Of Sweden and silver linings

It's that time of the year again. Sylvain is in Sweden, this time for nearly a month.

What does this mean for me? Well, spending time apart only makes the time we spend together better. In everyday life, we each do our own thing (I never reproach him from spending hours on the Wii and he never reproaches me for spending hours reading in the bath), but we also love to spend time with each other. So, in an extended fashion, there are a few advantages to some "me time" for a few weeks.

Firstly, I get to eat spaghetti bolognaise as often as I want. I swear, if I could eat it every day for the rest of my life I would not be unhappy.

Secondly, I get to watch all the chick flicks I could possibly want. So far, I've seen In Her Shoes, Dirty Dancing and Bridget Jones' Diary. I'm off to a good start.

Thirdly, I can leave all my socks lying, discarded, around the lounge room. I'll have to pick them up when guests come over, but I don't have to hurriedly shove them under the couch when "he" comes home suddenly (and then promptly forget about them for months).

Finally, I can go to the toilet any time I like. It is a very strange phenomenon, but we always seem to have to go at exactly the same time, and it is a relief not to have to race him to the toilet for a few weeks.

But it also means that I'm on full-time Symphony duty. She sleeps with me all night, every night. Climbing in and out of bed 600 times a night. And I will be spending Valentines Day all alone. Again. And I don't have my favourite person in the world around to talk to/sing to/chatter to/listen to at the end of the day.

And I have to take the bins out all by myself.

*sigh*

Time to make some bolognaise.

darling. wait until saturday and i'll take the bins out for you. :: gives you the look :: yes. i know. you CAN do it, but i can too. :) :P

A month can be a long time =( several can be an eternity. definitely pros and cons - I am always happy for my space, but i really miss having my Italian around just to sit with even.

Sounds like you got off to a good start on the movies - LOVE all those movies - Bridget always makes me laugh. and how weird yet funny it is about your bathroom habits. LOL Stefano swears i always have to go right when we are about to do some housework. (TMI?) The way this year is going - he'll be back before you know it!

yay for bolognaise! I am now re-thinking the banana pancakes for dinner idea I had for tonight...

If you're bored, hop over to Munich with the whole entourage and we'll knit. :-p

Tell me about it! - I ate popcorn for dinner tonight and the bin has reached the point where if I add one more thing - it's all going to come crashing down...

At least I get to sleep "diagonally" tonight...

I never get enough chinese food when my husband is at home so that's my treat to myself when he is gone, which isn't often now that he is retired.

Having been separated from Georges for almost the entire month of December with our respective travels I totally sympathize. You're going to miss him, bolognaise-eating sock-dropping chick-flick binge or not.

I feel ridiculous because sometimes I just miss my boy in the middle of the day, out of nowhere, even though we just saw each other in the morning... Then again, when I went to the U.S. at New Year's, the time seemed to fly by -- but it was so nice to see him again after a 10-day separation! I know a month would seem like a REALLY long time, so I can relate too.

You definitely should spend lots of time with your buddies, along with the chick flicks, the bolognaise and all that jazz -- get out and do some girly stuff, things you don't get to do as often, for example!

You mean you pick up your socks when Kylie comes over? And Symphony just misses her daddy. But you will miss him no matter what.

ps if you want to come hang out in Brussels, you know, I'll be there...
